Most insurance companies consider LASIK and other vision correction procedures to be elective and do not cover the cost. However, some insurance plans have laser vision benefits, so it’s worthwhile to consult your insurance company to determine any coverage eligibility.
To cover the costs of LASIK or alternative procedures, we are happy to work with you on utilizing funds from your health savings accounts (HSAs), medical savings accounts (MSAs), or flex spending account (FSA), avenues utilized by many of our patients to reduce the cost of their laser eye surgery. These options allow you to use pre-tax income to pay for medical costs, saving you upwards of 25 to 30 percent on your LASIK eye surgery.
OCCR also accepts CareCredit, our lending agency of choice, which provides monthly payment plan options that fit most budgets including Zero Down Payment and No Interest for 24 Month financing.
Furthermore, uninsured costs for refractive surgery are a deductible medical expense for personal income tax purposes (we advise verifying this with your accountant as your personal employment set up may negate this general truism).
