Practicing as an ophthalmologist and retinal specialist for more than 25 years, Dr. Robert Sax has gained a deep understanding of the importance of attentive patient care. He believes in treating each patient as he would a member of his own family.
As a partner and director of retina services at Ophthalmic Consultants of the Capital Region since 1989, Dr. Sax has treated thousands of patients with retinal disease and continues to seek out the latest in medical and surgical treatment options for conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein disease.
Dr. Sax received his undergraduate degree cum laude from Union College, a Ph.D. in pharmacology at the University of Virginia, and his M.D. at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He then completed a fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases in New York City at the Mount Sinai and Beth Israel Hospital.
Dr. Sax is the recipient of several research fellowships and is a member of numerous professional societies, such as the Albany County Medical Society, the New York Ophthalmological Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and he is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
